Dave,

Sid might not be totally off the mark.  You can open the 
bleeder at the slave cylinder and see if the lever moves.  
If it does, it's either the slave cylinder or something 
else.  I wouldn't tear into anything until you have the 
clutch all back together and can check it out as it's 
supposed to work.
