I went one further.  My headlight has its own relay pair and I power the high/low beam relays and the grip heaters off the original headlight circuit.

The headlight relay harness came from:

Now the headlights are brighter (heavier gauge wire) and have their own in-line fuse, and the grip heaters don't dim the lights.
