I run Basecamp on a Surface Pro 3 and it is plenty fast. ;-) In fact, I run all of my software on the Surface Pro without problems. It goes everywhere I do, often in a side panniers, but sometimes on top of the tank bag. It even does a nice job with GoToMyPC when I need to use the office computer while traveling. It has USB 3.0, which makes file transfers REALLY fast. The kindle reader implementation on it is worth having just for the screen size when reading PDF repair manuals, or rally instructions. Plus, the camera is better than my "rally camera" and it does better-than-good video calling.
There is much more to a choice of rally computers than just "Will it run BaseCamp?" I'd say speed, communications, and reliability are pretty important too.

Subject: [BaseCamp] Basecamp on Tablet
A friend has just gotten the dreaded news that he was chosen for the 2017
IBR. He is not a "tech person" and has a negative experience in the past
with a Windows laptop. Does Basecamp run on a tablet, and if so which ones
have had success in this esteemed group?
