I stopped updating with the last version that still supports "View in Google Earth". -- There is no need to tailgate me when I am doing 50 in a 35... and those flashing lights on top of your car look ridiculous. It was discussed on the Garmin forum. When it was in development, you could engage with developers, ask for changes , tweaks. It was the only routing software that I know of where this was ever possible. Then they decided development was complete, and made it like every other product, just maintained. Just curious, which version are you using and still getting the "View in GE"? It says version 4.7.0 on my screen. "View" is no longer there, but no big deal. An easy work around is File>Export the route or waypoints to your C drive. Open GE. Import to GE that file that was just exported to your C drive. Joe Y. Not gonna do all that. :-) -- There is no need to tailgate me when I am doing 50 in a 35... and those flashing lights on top of your car look ridiculous. From marcl at micapeak.com Thu Jan 24 10:29:47 2019 From: marcl at micapeak.com (Marc Lewis) Date: Thu, 24 Jan 2019 10:29:47 -0800 (PST) Subject: [BaseCamp] 2019 micapeak.com pledge drive Message-ID: <20190124182947.A0771FE7CE@lists.micapeak.com> Once each year we remind folks how they can send gifts for the upkeep of micapeak.com, which powers this mailing list, assorted Web sites and other services. It's that time! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gifts (in US dollars) can be made in two ways. The PREFERRED WAY is to use PayPal. Log into https://www.paypal.com/ and click the 'Send & Request' link at the top of your account summary page. In the white text box type: "marcl at micapeak.com" and click the 'Next' button. When PayPal asks 'What's this payment for?' click 'Sending to a friend', since you'll be making a donation, not buying anything. On the next page, fill in an amount and add an optional note if you wish. Click 'Continue' to finish up. We do prefer US dollars, but other currencies work too. That's it! And thanks in advance... The far LESS-desirable method is to send a check in $USD payable to "H M LEWIS" (not "micapeak", the bank doesn't like that) to: H M Lewis 4923 S Bellaire Ln Veradale, WA 99037-8220 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's the request. For most of you, this note is a familiar reminder. You know what to do, or not do, and you need read no further. NEWS: We moved micapeak.com, wetleather.com, etc. to Amazon Web Services (Lightsail) in 2018, and it's been working well for us. I think we've switched hosting companies at least 5 times since we started this. Here's hoping we have found home at last. That's the news for now. If you're still with me, however, I'll be a tiny bit more verbose about what the Pledge Drive is... The collection of domains (micapeak.com, wetleather.com, FJR1300.info, gpdndg.com, and a dozen other sites) and mailing lists which we collectively call "micapeak" is running well, thanks mostly to Carl's mailing list wizardry. We're still sending over one million e-mail messages every month connecting motorcyclists. 2019 marks the 24th year we've been doing this. So far, so good. :-) We renew our long-standing promise to keep micapeak.com, et al, running and free of charge, no matter what. But if you'd care to throw us a few bucks, we'd be grateful. Carl and I know that some of the folks for whom this mailing list is an important part of daily life would like to show their appreciation with a modest gift. We encourage you to think about how much time you spend each day following this list, or using micapeak's other resources. If it seems worthwhile to you, then please consider sending something. We will continue to operate the mailing lists, micapeak.com and other Websites for the foreseeable future (we even have sections in our wills to make sure the online stuff survives us). There is no obligation for you to send anything, and you'll continue to get the email and Webpages we serve for free. But we'd appreciate it if you'd help out... Thanks in advance! --hmarc & Carl SPECIAL NOTE: Let's not make this a topic of discussion on the mailing list, OK? Send us a gift or don't, as it suits you, but we have neither the time nor the energy to discuss the subject further than what you see above. And we're sure your fellow subscribers would rather not have the list itself cluttered with more than this notice on the subject. Thanks! (BTW -- I'll post this message just once more in about 2 or 3 weeks).
