It appears it uses a newer generation of helper apps. Has anyone used Explore for creating routes? How does it stack up to Basecamp? Obviously different, this isn't Windows or MacOS software, it's an app. Everything's a G.D. "app" now (imagine Dr. Evil air quotes.) Conversely, is anyone connecting their XT to Basecamp for route transfer? Feedback? My Zumo 396 uses the Smartphone Link app for traffic and weather. Last weekend I tried to use that app, it was unable to figure out where I was, rendering the app worthless. Now they have replaced Smartphone Link with Drive if you're using an XT, but still stuck on Smartphone Link on a 396. Any reviews of Drive? How is the traffic and weather data? Great screen, good pairing with iPhone and Sena SMH10, even the onboard music is decent. While I had reservations about the security of the handlebar mount included in the kit the unit has never come off in the 10K+ miles I've had it. Regarding the Garmin Drive app, I really really like the waypoint/route transfer feature for quick uploads of my day rides and tour rides. I save the GPX in Basecamp, then upload that to iCloud on the PC, then download it on my iPhone, and lastly Share it with Drive. When the XT and iPhone pair up the app automatically uploads it to the GPS. However for rallying I prefer to use the USB cable connection for better control of the data via Basecamp and it's quicker.. I haven't tried the Explore app as I am firmly embedded in Basecamp. Hope this helps ya. Bill On 5/5/2021 11:27 AM, Jerry White wrote: > Conversely, is anyone connecting their XT to Basecamp for route transfer? > Feedback? >
