Instrument cluster illumination light bulbs

I've got a question for you fine gents:

How do I replace the instrument cluster illumination bulbs?  I have one that
is burned out... From the instructions in the manual it isn't that clear...
Do I really have to pull the entire cluster and take it apart?  Or do the
bulbs plug into the back side of it line one would expect?
