+1 on the "armour all" or polish
Mine did the same after the dude i bought it from did this - eventually it 
wears off.
If you really want solve it and and have an out of this world sensual 
experience cover it with sheepskin...

mesh they sell as shelf liner, works great and great for under any cargo as
