The national switchover to ethanolic gasoline has been creating fuel system
problems for cars, boats and motorcycles alike. Ethanol is corrosive and
hygroscopic. It accelerates metal oxidation in fuel systems and also tends
to create gels and films when allowed to partially evaporate, i.e. in carb
float bowls during storage. There has been a huge increase in the number of
clogged carb jets as a result. It is a problem that is not going away. You
may want to start adding fuel stabilizer year round to reduce these
tendencies.
