New tire, wet roads?

Speaking of new tires, why are there always colored lines in apparent reason
on them?  I see this on new car tires too....doesn't keep me up at night
though ;-)

Actually most modern tire mfgs don't use mold release anymore. The
slime on the tires is most likely due to rolling around oily shops,
IMO. Washing them down is a good idea in any case. :)
