Lizca- You have stumbled upon a wealth of knowlege and a great support group here at the list.  I wrecked my GPZ back in January and was able to put my GPZ back together thanks to the list and e-bay and am happily ignoring my KLR and riding again.

I went a few weeks ago and picked up my new KLR 650. I had told the little
woman that I would sell the  GPZ and that would make up for the new
bike.    I cannot get used to not having the GPZ and
riding it. I ride it before I ride the KLR.   So I am going to keep it
too..  Wifey is NOT happy but I'll sell the KLR before I sell the
GPZ.  Has anyone else had GPZ withdrawals after buying a
"replacement"?

Jim - Wish I had bought the bars and bags for the GPZ when I had the chance. So
if anyone has a set of LSL bars they want to sell let me know.

David,

They call it sellers remorse (vs buyers remorse). As far
as getting the wife used to two bikes, remember it's always
better to ask forgiveness than ask for permission. I had
my wife worked up to where I once had 10 bikes in the
garage at one time and actually assembled my 73 Kawasaki
750 triple restoration project in the living room. The
wife will get used to it, if not find a new one. ;-)

I too went for the KLR and am enjoying life immensely, as long as I am doing 70
mph or lower. Above 70 mph, I really miss the GPZ. And when I a behind a string
of cars on the highway...

I've had three GPZ's so far. Sold the first one, had a couple other
bikes but was never happy with them, so I drove to Texas to buy a basket
case GPZ to fix up. When I ran into trouble getting a title for it, I
ended up buying a third to ride. Once the title got straightened out on
my second one, I sold it to a friend.
Lately I've been itching to trade up to a ZX14 or maybe a used ZX12.
I'm
sure I'll probably miss the Geepster if I do ever sell it, though.

Getting back on the GPZ after riding the KLR for a while reminds me of all the
reasons I bought it in the first place and what a really good all-around bike
it is. The extra 200 lbs. is quite noticable but does have it's advantages
in high speed stability. It's still the smoothest bike I've ever
ridden. I guess when you retire and are really, really old, it's not that
comfortable anymore but I've got a ways to go before either one. Hang on to
it, it's a keeper.

I'll admit I miss Ruby. The smoothness and the power are lacking in the V
Strom. There is no nice roll-on throttle in high gear from 100 kmh (60mph).
With the GPz it was just roll the throttle and it smoothly ran up to over
160 kmh (100 mph) while passing 2 cars. The V Strom will do it but it feels
like the pistons are going to jump out of the cylinders. Drop it down a
gear or 2 and than stand on it comes on like gang busters--but I'm a lazy
fucker and all that shifting tires me out. Maybe I'm ready for one of
those
650 Burgmans or a Rascal. I do like paying 1/2 the insurance premium for
the Suzuki vs the Kawi. Its a black listed bike in Canada.
As Charles says about keeping both bikes. I think I said something about
selling both the GPz and my 1970 Triumph Trophy. She mentioned something
the other day about maybe the Triumph would sell better if your lowered the
price. I just nodded. There was a bunch of screaming and other language
that an old school marm shouldn't really know. I said she got 50% and
that's a passing grade. That was good until yesterday when we were in the
other cottage garage, picking up some of her stuff for a yard sale and she
spied the 1969 Triumph 250 in the darkness in a back corner. Where did that
come from???? Hope she doesn't go checking through old barns near Mickburg

as there is a 1978 Kawasaki 900 in one of them.
Well I'd best go get a hernia and install the 9.9 Honda on the tin boat.
Nasty little motor to move. Every part is round so there are no good
griping points and the thing weighs 50kg (105 lb) - 10 lb more than my 20 HP
Merc- 40 lb more than my Evinrude 9.5. Plus you can't trip it this way or
that as the oil will leak out of it. But it runs very clean and will give me
about 15 miles/gallon which is excellent for a boat motor.

David,
I just joined the list. I have a 95 GPz1100, a 99 Vulcan 1500 & a 99 Road
King Classic AND I AM A WIFE! :) Do not sell it! You will regret it for
the rest of your life. They are hard to come by and parts too!
When the bike is ready, take you sweetie for a nice ride, dinner and dessert
and it all will be OK.
My husband doesn't ride. I do. He hunts and fish. Everyone needs to have
their outlet and enjoy who they are and what they like.
Good luck!
Lizca

Well those bars were all packaged up and I was going to mail them when I got
your email that you didn't want them. I sold both them and the bags Dexter

Draper who came knocking on my back door. I think he's going to get a hold

of Bill Magitz for his exhaust system.
I've still got:
2 fuel tanks
Complete set of 4 Kevlar EBC front brake pads new in package
Venture Rear rack (bolts on to the bungee hook places )and will fit the Kawi
OME bags.
A set of Frank Thomas Kevlar bags as new 9" wide x 12" x 12"
(they made one
trip to WV and back (2500 km) no rain (while the bags were on the bike).
They were in my tent floating on my mattress while we were riding through
the monsoons in WV.

You guys are great! I love it already!
By the way, I am looking for the left side (main part) exhaust for my 95
GPz1100. The headers on mine is all rusted and it is hanging at the back
end because the bracket is broken. I am restoring it to original. It was
silver :( and wasn't running when I got it. Now it runs great and most of
the red parts are in. I am having the tank, front cowling and front fender
painted to match. I cannot find the d..m exhaust. Any leads?
THANKS! ;)

Hi Lizca,

Where are you located? The exhausts are around, but
expensive to ship due to the weight and size. Also if it
helps, the exhaust off of a ZX-11D is exactly the same.
