major scrw-up

I think you idea of plugging it with JB weld is good idea. I'm not sure
what you drilled out, but I looked at my carbs and if they are on the side,
it's probably either a plug for a pressed in jet or some type of casting
hole that needed to be plugged. I don't want to drill mine out to see
what's under those ;-) so if you didn't drill any further than the cap you
should be OK by sealing it up again. JB Weld will withstand gas/oil and
there shouldn't be any real pressure behind it. Good Luck.

Thanks much Charles for the info on the ZX-11 petcock.
But that's the least of my worries now.
I had the tank off because I pulled the carbs to put in a much needed
Dyno Jet kit.
I got in a hurry, whipped out the drill to remove the plugs covering the
fuel screws...and then did the most idiotic, moronic, retarded
bone-headed thing I've done in years. Yes, I miss-interpreted the
drawing and drilled out one of the brass "things" in the carb body
instead of the pilot jet EPA plugs. GD *&*(^*%%me!!!
Of course, these brass plugs are pressed into the carb body and aren't
something you can just buy (as far as I can determine) and a new carb
body is $500+.
When everyone is finished laughing, maybe someone has some advice
(besides get out the credit card and bend over).
Press the plug back in the hole and plug the hole I drilled with JB
Weld?
Is there some aftermarket place that sells these things? It would help
if I knew what it's called and what it's for. The guys at the Fey Meyers
(big dealer in Denver) didn't know.
I guess it's true, carburetor is French for "don't f*^# with it".

Steve,
The petcock from a ZX-11 will fit IIRC. You would need to
cut the inlet pipes to the same height as the ones on the
GPZ or the reserve would be different.
I think some of the old KZ's used dogleg levers, but I'm
not sure shich ones offhand.

I'll be interested in hearing how that works for ya.

I got an email from him (it took two of mine to get him to respond) that
says it should be here any day. It's been over a month though. I would
have ordered it anyway but I wish he would just say it takes that long
to
make. I hope it looks good....

I would assume they have a bit less restriction considering the high
speed
desires of a ZX11D. I bet you could find sets of them laying around
pretty
cheap from those who put on aftermarket pipes. Hmmmm, I see a stroll
through ebay coming on....

Rarely do I correct Charles. My ZX11D mufflers are larger but they are
located exactly the same. Hense the throaty sound.
I have the foot peg/exhaust bracket if interested.
----- Original Message ----
The exhausts are around, but
expensive to ship due to the weight and size. Also if it
helps, the exhaust off of a ZX-11D is exactly the same.

Here is an online Sprocket calculator for the GPZ.

Thinking about Steve's comment yesterday about going bigger
on the front for his trip to Ohio got me thinking (rare and
frightning). For the first time, I'm using my GPZ to
commute to work two or three times a week since I drive 33
miles each way. I've always liked being two teeth bigger
on the rear for the extra power and shorter wheelbase, but
with the price of gas, the extra mileage driving to work
would be welcome. Looks like it's time to swap the rear
sprocket out for the old 45 tooth rear for a while.
BTW, got my new Autocom system yesterday (Thanks Art for
the recommendation), and I'm looking forward to trying it
out this weekend.
