GPZList Digest, Vol 44, Issue 15

I can't believe how cheap the GPZ's go for either. I got mine last winter for only $1700 Canadian, and all it needed was a back tire. The thing is nearly mint and had only 43,000 kms on it. I was planning to spend about 3 times that on a nice used Concours 1000, but then I saw the GPZ and thought "that's the bike I really want, and it's so cheap!"

Maybe the high insurance rate has something to do with it. Do you guys know that State Farm still allows you to insure a bike for only the number of months per year that you ride (this is for the Canadians)? My insurance was going to be pretty high with the GPZ, but since I'm only paying for 7 months it's like insuring a middleweight all year.

If I ever try to sell my Gypsie it's going for 3 grand, or I'm gonna keep it :-)

1996 1100. Fast green color. 25K miles. Runs great. Needs tires. Will be
replacing those soon and the price will reflect that. $1500.00 Firm.
Salvage title, but I don't know why. I have had it for 5 years with no
problems. Been down twice since I've owned it. Once on each side. Both
under 5 mph. Tried to turn on gavel. Replaced sprocket/chain last summer.
Battery last summer. Plugs and Air Cleaner last winter. NO MODS
whatsoever. Totally stock. Vacaville, CA. Let me know.

Wow, every time I think the GPz has hit a firm price bottom and is ready to
start appreciating, I see something like this... sad.

I sold my '96 with 21.5k miles in April for $3k. Sold with the OEM bags, a tank bag and grip heaters installed. Tires were pretty new. Just saying...

Most of the ones that I have seen for sale have sold for between 2.5 and 3.2.

Even with the Salvage title? It has ran great since I've had it (5 years),
but I've noticed salvage items draw less muulah. When I bought it, I was
new to CA and we didn't have salvage title items in the state I was from.
Didn't know what it implied. Anyway, I have one now and that's the only
downside to this bike.

You're right. The salvage title hurts your value but I can't believe that it would knock it down that much. Anyway, good luck with the sale.

Yes, I believe they are worth more, but only the buyer can say for sure.
And, yes, I know the bike is not perfect (no such thing anyway) but it does
so many things so well, I'd say it's pretty darned close for a 14 yr old
bike. So ultimately, it doesn't matter what it's worth to someone else,
because for the last twelve years and into the foreseeable future it'll be
worth more to me.

I had my 23K 1996 clean title well maintained GPz listed for a while at $2K
and got absolutely no nibbles. A salvage title would knock it down at LEAST
500 bucks.

I just sold a salvage title car and the bank would only finance it for half
of the blue book trade in value, FWIW.
