The e-mail address or website of the guy would be really good to have.

Thanks,

Had a guy on ebay that makes zippered waterproof bag liners for Harleys
make
a set for me to the OEM bag dimensions for about $40. Work great and
keep
stuff dry through a lot of rain (eh, Mike?)

Yes they do fade. I work mine over with black shoe polish and it brings
them back quite nicely. (In my younger years I was in the Royal Tank
Regiment and we blacked all our webbing this way).

As for waterproof..... Forget it. I use waterproof plastic liners
inside, which have a one way valve to extract the air and reduce the
contents to the smallest size possible. It's also advisable to burn a
small hole in the bottom of the rain covers otherwise water spray will
pool in the bottom and will infiltrate the main bag. (If you burn the
hole it won't fray).

This reminds me: I can't fit the right side bag on my '96 because the
V&H
pipe sweeps up just a bit too much. I can look into adding a bend to
the
exhaust system or having someone modify the bracket, but I'm wondering
what
others may have done to solve this problem.

Also, although the OEM bags were rarely fitted to the bike, they were
apparently left near a sunny window and the nylon stretch panels look
faded.
I assume this might bode poorly for waterproof qualities (if any) the
bags
may have. How well do these things hold up?
