I also used a specialized
contact cleaner spray solvent (Nigrin).
There must be some oil and/or kerosene in it.
If you touch it it gives a oily feeling.
You're right: oil alone would be no help!
There has to be a chemical reaction with the metallic surfaces that 
should touch each other.

Anyway: it worked - together with a bit of scraching ....
