Americade

I haven't been to Americade for a few years now and after reading Ralph's
report I think I'm overdue to attend. The roads around there are really
sublime and a round-trip back though Vermont Highway via #1 or #100 (I'm not
sure of the number with my fading memory) really tops off the perfect bike
trip.

Whoever designed the GPZ1100 must have measured someone of my exact
dimensions as I have always felt like it fit me perfectly... no mods or
special saddles or bar raisers ever felt necessary for me and I have
travelled some extreme daily mileages.

I do agree with Ralph about the fork brace and the mirror extenders were a
real help, but don't cure the rear vision problem entirely. I have a
cyclist's bar end mirror mounted on the left grip which totally eliminates
the rear visibility problem. I call it my "Cop-spotter"..... and I hope that
I just didn't jinx myself!

When is the next Sci-fi epic coming out, Ralph?

I spent the week up at Americade in Lake George, like I do every year. I
took the GPZ this time, as the past 3 Americade's I took the FJR. The GPZ is
so great right now with the fork brace installed. I keep kicking myself for
not installing it sooner. I should have done this 14 years ago. It's now fun
to ride and tracks like a laser through turns, instead of wallowing. I had a
great time riding it through the adirondacks all week, and my back road ride
home yesterday was awesome. Even the part of it where I had to ride slab the
rest of the way home after I found the ferry was cancelled was no big deal.
I rode a couple of new bikes up there, including the Ninja 1000 and
concluded I like the GPZ better (The way it's set up now, LSL bar
conversion/ZRX1200 bars, and the fork brace.) What was funny was that some
Kawasaki people were checking it out in the field it was parked in near
their tent. I came home last night and today gave it a well deserved bath,
polish and chain lube.
