I've had the shift seal go a couple of times but I also have a much heavier leak somewhere. I believe some have found leaks at the counter balance shaft seal-  which may be my problem.....Not too sure how to access it...... it gets all over the exhaust......it helps keep the Mosquitos at bay. Too be honest I'm not sure I'm ever going to get around to resurrecting it.. Squatting on the floor isn't my idea of fun anymore.Ralph which bike is this?

I have a persistent oil leak somewhere in that vacinity. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the cause is? Ralph L Angelo Jr Author of Cool Stuff Http://RLAngeloJr.comSent from my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7.

My first thought is the countershaft seal. Mine has never leaked but I think Charles has a trick using O-rings to improve the seal.

Just a thought as this has hit me recently, Oil leaks in that area can also
come from the clutch pushrod seal and the two seals on the gear change
shaft...

My Geeper had a persistant leak from the shifter shaft seal that dribbled
down the kickstand. A burr on the shaft (likely caused by a hamfisted first
seal change attempt) left it leaky for the rest of my time on it. Couldn't
replace or repair that burr without splitting the cases so I lived with it,
buying the seals 5 at a time and changing twice a year.

I always have had that, transforming the geeper into "little smoky dragon"
from time to time. It never went to "dripping" though.

Ah, I was misremembering. It was the shifter shaft seal that people had issues with.
