Ralph,

The water pump shaft had worn away? Wow, is it plastic? I wonder if this abnormal wear is associated with silicates in the antifreeze?

Just curious... how many miles on your bike currently, and at what mileage did you start to smell oil?

TIA,
Bill in Yardley, PA

For years I had this mystery oil leak. I couldn’t find it, and my mechanic friend couldn’t either. Up until recently. He dropped some dye in there and hit it with a UV light. It was coming form the water pump. The shaft had worn away. He replaced the water pump for me and no more oil smell for the first time in years. I rtook it on a short 20 mile ride tonight and it was perfect. > > Ralph L. Angelo Jr> Author of cool stuff> RLAngeloJr.com > >
