I needed that. The river in front of my house is still frozen solid the 3 km (2 miles) across except for the few places with rapids or other fast water plus the forests have 1/2 a meter or more of snow. The weather for the next couple of weeks looks good for producing maple syrup (just above freezing during the day to below freezing at night) but not for bringing on the spring melt. It was nice enough in Denver, CO to ride this last weekend, but my Ducati is still in the shop after two months, waiting for a new Arrow exhaust from Italy. I finally moved the Vulcan from storage to the place I'm staying and the GPZ is sleeping in Greensboro, NC at my GF's house where I rode it last May. No riding right now because I'm packing and moving to Greensboro, NC at the end of April, time for a fresh start at life. I will miss the Colorado mountains, but not the cold and the traffic and there are lots of new roads to travel. Charles S. One is the usual: Salt on the roads. Although the riding season officially begins on the 1st of March, it's often mid April or even later before the roads are free of salt. This week sees several snow showers, and during the night the temperature drops to -5 deg. C. So the roads are salted almost every evening/night. The second reason is that I just had my eyes fixed. Over the last 6-9 months I apparently developed cataracts, and it became increasingly difficult to drive at night. Oncoming headlights resulted in bright starlight-like glare in all directions. Even on a bright day the world appeared hazy and colorless, almost yellowish, and text on a computer screen appeared as blurry, light gray letters on a white background. By the time I got to the eye clinic I had 30% vision left on one eye and 50% on the other. I had one eye fixed a couple of weeks ago and the other a week later. I had almost forgotten how bright and colorfull the world can appear, even on a gray winter day. But for the next couple of weeks I'm not allowed too much wind in my face and certainly no dirt, so no motorcycle riding just yet. Actually the winterly weather just now suits me well ;) Other than that the GPZ is ready for the season, now with 235.000 km (146.000 miles) on the tacho :) Ped '96 "Black Stealth" GPZ Denmark ------ Original Meddelelse ------ Fra: "Alexander Finger" Til: "ped" Sendt: 30-03-2022 09:14:27 Emne: 2022 - first ride :) >Hey fellow GPZ'ers - not on a GPZ but a nice first ride this year after >having the service done (on my Honda 2016 Africa Twin). Better. I know what you mean about the cold weather suiting you right now. I had my right hip replaced to match my left one last week and I'm limping around at this point. It'll be another 5-7 weeks before I can ride again, but like you, I Can't wait to get back out in two wheels.
