It had 3,500 miles and cost my $5,500. Best $5Gs I ever spent. I still own it 26 years later and rode it last week and although I "only" have 40K miles on the clock (much less than some for sure), it has taken me across country twice and many miles of smiles in between. Now I'm 65 and even though its equipped with the LSL bar conversion, the Sport Touring configuration of the bike is starting to give me issues with my back and shoulders. Unfortunately, I also have two other sport touring bikes, so its hard to get away from that in my stable. There are worse things in life though, and as much as I "should" thin the herd, I'm still not ready to let go of the big stealth rocket that runs like it's still new and has more than enough power for any situation I find myself in. Sadly my GPz was totaled in 2014 after 19 years and 93K of ownership, but I used to ride in the area quite a bit, and still drive it in my Mercedes SLK on occasion and still keep this subscription active to see how the great community here is doing. If you're in the area and want a great ride in the Shenandoah area, two recommendations: 1) Thornton Gap - 211 West from Sperryville, VA to Luray, VA. It crosses the Skyline Drive and has an entrance to Skyline Drive. I don't know if you're planning to do Skyline - it's kind of boring because it's so slow, especially after spending a few days on the spectacular Blue Ridge Parkway. If you're doing Skyline, stop at Sperryville for lunch then you can blast up Thornton Gap to get back on the drive. https://maps.app.goo.gl/kVVhWkssojy6aCma6 2) Fort Valley Road from Luray to Front Royal. My single favorite ride in the area. There's a great little overlook at the bottom of the valley that offers a great view of the west branch Shennandoah valley and Skyline Drive/Shenandoah National Park. This route is parallel to the northern section of Skyline Drive and is a 100000% better ride than Skyline drive. https://maps.app.goo.gl/LgTE5BFEkjnr2coG6 Enjoy! -Philip Hamm, PMP, ITIL V4 Foundation 703-944-7623 -----Original Message----- From: GPZList On Behalf Of gpzlist-request at lists.micapeak.com Sent: Thursday, September 26, 2024 3:00 PM To: Philip Hamm Subject: GPZList Digest, Vol 175, Issue 4 Send GPZList mailing list submissions to gpzlist at lists.micapeak.com To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit https://lists.micapeak.com/mailman/listinfo/gpzlist or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to gpzlist-request at lists.micapeak.com You can reach the person managing the list at gpzlist-owner at lists.micapeak.com When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of GPZList digest..."
