The board will be meeting soon and we'll have more definitive info about further cancellations. While that may be true, I will guess that many/most of us would feel chary about the May 1,2,3 dates that we have reserved. In light of that I've put us on the calendar for 3 nights next year on May 14,15,16, 2021. I did this quickly because people are now rescheduling cancelled weddings and other events they have on the calendar there for this year. I have not cancelled for this year but it seems like I should. In addition I've reserved a 2-night October weekend, Friday and Saturday night, 10/23 and 10/24/2020 for a pre-Hallowe'en get together in hopes that we will be in the post virus apocalypse world. We'll confirm our interest and intentions sometime in August. I sure hope you are all well and enjoying the possible silver linings of a shelter in place order. I nominate Jim Franklin for winning this week's prize with his baking prowess, from The Quarantine Kitchen™ Oatmeal Raisin Crack Bombs indeed! Let's have some life on this list now. Let us know how you're doing. Report in from your outposts. If you have Facebook check out my feed as well as Robert's to see about our well timed Norwegian Coastal Cruise about a Hutigruten Ferry. Suffice it to say we barely made it back in the country. Can't wait to see you all once this virus calms down. I think it may be a while. We are hunkered down for the duration but when you are at 6,000 feet in a town of 3,000 residents (plus it is snowing as I write this), there are really not that many people to avoid. All the restaurants, bars and coffee shop (singular for coffee shop) are doing take out but no inside seating. I’m not sure take out applies to the bars since you are unable to get cocktails to go. The local brewery is refilling growlers at $10 a pop. The continual dusting of snow makes motorcycle riding “iffy” (or damn exciting depending on your point of view). It'd make a fun coupla weeks and maybe after the current WFH proof of concept they will let me work in CA/WA without wearing out their worry beads. There was a very high quality video that made the rounds some years back, taken from a Norwegian ferry. I don't know if it was the Hurdygurdy or another, but it was stunning, perfect for the then-forthcoming wall mounted big screen TV. I can't find it now of course. It was different in that the camera was fixed to the ship and had no sound. There is another of a train running almost the length of the country. jim > On Mar 20, 2020, at 2:43 PM, L.A. Yes, I think it's sensible to cancel our May 2020 dates. I really doubt that we'll be out of this by then in the first place, and I think that there's enough other disruption going on that our Jughandle event becomes difficult to do for most even if it does become possible. Both the October 2-night weekend and the 2021 dates work fine for me. I've got them on my calendar already now. ... Regards ongoing Covid-19 House Arrest Follies … 😉 … Things continue as normal for me, pretty much, except I don't get to stop at nice cafes and restaurants for lunch and coffee or see friends other than in virtual space. I'm trying to do a cycle ride every day of 10 to 20 miles, and have to get back into the rhythm of my home workout routine. I've got a ton of photography to do, a bunch of books to read, a bunch of video/movie ideas to write, and still don't seem to have any free time. Never mind the bicycle shenanigans of the past few weeks… Yeah, retirement. That time in life when things slow down … NOT. 🚀 💪 😎 I wouldn't have it any other way. onwards! At the beginning of chapter 4, 1st line in paragraph 4, the word “chary” is used to express a British Cabinet member’s reticence about funding a covert operation in a former colony. Le Carre wrote this book in ‘93, good read so far. Under the heading of staying busy, I have a garage full of projects. There is a Guzzi to finish, a corvair to restore and a cafe bike to build... the main issue seems to be that the garage is unseated and during this winter/spring of our despair, the daily temperatures are high 30s to low 40s... it sucks in other words☹️.
