A grand idea. I'm off to my Florida home in a few days so cannot attend. Let's keep the TA rally alive though. I'll be back in the spring.

Enjoy and take photos,

Don

I think if we can figure out who’s interested, and find a restaurant somewhere toward the middle, we could all ride to it and have lunch together, take a rally photo and ride home; it would fulfill the minimum requirement to get us through this year.

I think I am fairly centrally located. I could host. Maybe we could just do a one day thing, or people could stay over my house. We have three guest beds plus a couch.. It's not palatial but it would do. I could cobble together some roads.

So guys… I think this year was supposed to be the 19th Annual NETAR - next year would be 20. Can anyone confirm?
Is anyone able to do a short-notice october mini-rally to keep this thing going so we can make year 20? Maybe by then some of the DNR’s can ride again.

p.s. Adam, there are two styles of CDI holder for the TA. One squishes the box the long way, possibly causing premature CDI failure (usually around the 20k mark). The second one lays them in sideways to reduce the squish. I’ll post pics of both so you can see what I’m talking about. But most of us had CDI failure near 20k or so. We learned a lot of the quirks, and all the good stuff together over these last 20 years.

How nice to see a new TA owner! Get the crash bars installed soon. Mine enabled me to ride over 50 miles home after my 60 mph deer impact. Not even a coolant leak. The entire front cowl/headlight assy. and every piece of plastic is trashed, but no mechanical issues. Amazing bikes. Glad you got that beauty, Adam. Need a white parts bike?

Good bike, good price. I have Givi's side and top and good plastic and would market at $3200.00 and expect it would sell quickly to those that know theTA. I have Shinko 705 trail masters. 80/20. D606 for the level 3+ (which I don't do any more). Advice from me and many others. "Get a spare CDI module" and the retro holder if possible.

You'll enjoy it.

I was pretty pleased as it had the GIVI luggage stuff. I LOVE hard bags, and I think that setup would have been pretty impossible to get in any other way. I like being able to lock up my Aerostich and helmet when I get someplace. I may even take it camping. It had some other odds and ends, like newer heated grips and a power charger etc.

Bike looks good, well maintained.

Cant wait to get it plated.

Can’t argue with that. I think I could get ~$3,200 for my white one. Think you did well Adam for the Moonstone.

$3200 is about what I sold my '90 moonstone for in 2004. Except for vintage classics, I don't think any bikes held their value as well.

Beautiful moonstone! The red is second best, then the white.

Nah, tires aren’t that hard to find… you can use bridgestone trail wings, dunlop D606’s, Metzeler saharas, pirelli scorpion rallies, etc, etc.

I am very excited to have it. I don't have much in the way of pictures but here are some snaps from the way home yesterday. I think it's going to need tires. Any suggestions? I paid $3200 for it with 17K and change on it for miles. It came with a full set if Givi luggage side cases and rack are in the truck bed. I just scored a new GIVI set of crash bars. Body looks good aside from some scratches and a crack on one place. It matches my truck!

The bike is on the truck which is on the Hadleyme ferry in CT. I bought it, at least in part, to poke around back roads with my wife on it.

Adam! That’s great!

The group has been getting smaller and smaller due to aging riders, mechanical mishaps, etc. The old TA’s are definitely moving slowly toward extinction - which is too bad because, after all these years, these bikes still ROCK!!! Just ask J. Braun and anyone who has followed him with their own Transalp. They can go anywhere and do anything.
