I had this same thing happen. It was a simple fix. It actually happened en route to the Suffield TA rally. If you haven't replaced that hose I'd bet actual dollars to doughnuts that this is it. I'd say also it could be a float stuck in the high position so the bowl doesn't fill valve gets stuck kind of closed, in which case my Rx would be simply to ride it and/or whack the float bowls with a screwdriver or something. Run premium or Seafoam if you want but really the cure for a stuck fuel valve is to ride the bike. Vibration and flow will free it up. My friend, Bill, and I bought identical Kawi 250cc 2-stroke dual sport bikes in about 1975. After a few years, he wanted to sell his and a buyer wanted to ride it. We all went riding in north NJ and had a great time until his bike, which the buyer was riding, just stopped. I checked the kick-start action (no electric start then) and there was no resistance. Bill said he'd put some Gumout in the tank to clean the carb; it had created so much heat it melted a finger-size hole in the piston crown. The melted aluminum had committed some other ancillary chaos in the motor. The buyer changed his mind. Maybe Techron wouldn't do that, but I just swap out for fresh gas if it's been sitting too long. I also start it up and let it warm up thoroughly every couple of weeks in the winter. Extra oil or any additive that messes up the fuel ratio will lean out the fuel. New gas and techron and then take it easy for a while. If that fails gonna have to dig into the carb. As Adam said fresh gas alone may even clean it if its not too bad. Learned about the CRC lube versus WD-40 from J. a while ago. Our bikes are 40 years old now! Both we, and the bikes, were more energetic and better looking in 1989. One of the weak points of the Transalp was the front forks. They were weak and squishy. By now the rear shock has seen it's best days in the rear view mirror. Standard practice was to install Progressive fork springs. While this stiffens the forks, it makes them harsh and uncomfortable. I replaced my rear shock some years ago with a Hagon unit that I liked but it finally went south on my and Hagon availability is dicey since David Quinn stopped selling them. Fast forward to Race Tech. They installed the correct springs and cartridge emulators in the forks. This is the correct spring rate plus the correct dampening. Now I have a very controlled front end that's comfortable on-road and very precise and compliant off-road. In the rear they installed an Ohlins shock that is amazing. No more oingo-boingo in back! They adjusted everything for my weight and set the sag for my riding style. Surprisingly, it was no more expensive than other quality shocks on the market and is rebuildable when it gets worn out. The final price for both ends was about $1200. However, it was like getting a brand new (and improved) Transalp. I went riding with some friends on more modern adventure bikes and I gave up nothing to them on some pretty tough terrain. It went where I pointed it and gripped the ground in a very controlled manner. Some of the trails out here can make the Pachaug Loop seem easy! I now have 2 Euro Africa Twins but I still love my TA. The Race Tech upgrades have given it a new lease on life and made it my go-to bike again. J.
