It's not just Honda.

The Yamaha TDR250

how Europe understood better how bikes are actually used. I think that
because the postwar period was harder in Europe that the tradition of
motorcycles actually used as transport was carried later.  Also, they just
didn't have the wide open spaces of the United States.  Long distance
didn't involve highways until much later.

Couple that with a history of grand prix racing and they're just a better
motorcycle culture than us.
