[BaseCamp] optimize

I've had the same results. Generally I use the "Optimize" feature just for
grins and give me a first blush look at a suggested route. Then I can
usually visually create a more efficient or interesting route. Duplicating
the original route is very important in the process of examining route
alternatives as has been indicated.

LOL. Well, looks like I had the same experience as both of you guys. Yes,
I am sooooo glad that I duplicated the route before using the Optimize
option. But I learned that lesson the hard way. I created this route, with
three dozen stops, and manually input into each site the number of minutes
for a Layover that I anticipated staying at each site. When I saw where the
route would place me at dark, I decided to use BC's option for reversing the
direction to see where I would be at dark if I went clockwise. But I
selected that option without duplicating the route first. I lost all of the
Layover info and all the time it took for me to do that manually. Note to
self: Duplicate the route before selecting any BaseCamp options for
assistance.
