[BaseCamp] WOTL Needed for BaseCamp

I read "Always match route to the map on my device when transferring" a different way. Note, a Garmin GPS can have more than one map version or even map type (road, marine, topographic) in it at any given time. I've seen instances of people having a new version of a map on an external card while they have an older version in internal memory; not wanting to "brick" their GPS trying to put a newer map into internal memory.

So, the way I read the option is that either it is making sure that the map you created the route on in BaseCamp exists in the GPS or that when you invoke the route transferred in the GPS, it uses the map that it was created with in BaseCamp. I've had problems with my GPSMap 478 when I upgraded the maps but used an elaborate route with lots of shaping points route built in BaseCamp and transferred to the GPS prior to updating the maps on the GPS.

You state "What I would like to do is match the route in the GPS to the route I built in BaseCamp on the computer". I'm a bit confused by this, what is your goal?

When using BaseCamp, there is a route option that reads; "Always match route to the map on my device when transferring".

The definition of this option sounds like it is matching the route in the computer/BaseCamp to the route in the GPS.

"Transferring a route from the GPS to the computer"

What I would like to do is match the route in the GPS to the route I built in BaseCamp on the computer.

Maybe I am looking at the wrong option or I am interpolating the description wrong?

The option in question can be found like this:

Right click a route and select "Open".

Select "Route Options"

Select "Use Activity Profile"

Select "Edit Profile"

Select "Device Transfer"

It will be the middle option under "Transferring Routes"
