Geil you are not alone in getting that particular error.  I assume it is server overload.  Keep trying.  I earlier posted my experience which basically stated don't click the large Google Earth download button you first see at the top of the page.  Read the text and use the blue hyper text link further down on the page.

I did it this way because the large download google earth button at the top right of the page does not say "Pro".  The text says "click here".  Also the download did not start automatically.  Had to click on the link stating "click here if your download does not start".
