[BaseCamp] Proximity Colors

For alerts on my Garmin Montana, I use POI's. For example I ride
several different rallies at the same time and I have each of the
rallies' checkpoints loaded as POI's using the Garmin POI loader
software. Whenever I'm within say 5 miles of one of them, an alert is
displayed on the Montana (I don't use the sound feature). It helps me
not miss one.
I'll need to experiment with this proximity feature of waypoints and see
what it does for me.

In my Zumo 550 there is a setting where you enable the alarms, and program how far away you are from them until the alert rings. The trick is, you have to convert any waypoints into POIs before loading them to the GPS. The Zumo alerts on POIs only, not waypoints or shaping points. Many people use this feature for speed cameras, and when you go online, the speed camera POI files are always the most recently updated.

It would seem to be an easy feature to integrate with the proximity settings. I admit I have not tried the proximity settings to see if they transfer to the GPS. Too cold outside! 6 degrees this morning.
