Unless I misunderstand what you mean, my 665 alerts, at least on waypoints, by default unless I turn that off in BaseCamp.  As I think about this it gives me an audio alert.  You mean the screen alert as happens when I approach a speed camera POI?  Thanks again.  Off to practice when I get home.

In my Zumo 550 there is a setting where you enable the alarms, and program how far away you are from them until the alert rings. The trick is, you have to convert any waypoints into POIs before loading them to the GPS. The Zumo alerts on POIs only, not waypoints  or shaping points. Many people use this feature for speed cameras, and when you go online, the speed camera POI files are always the most recently updated.
